Indoor Snow for Winter!

Use two readily available household products and some water to make some snow with your learner for an easy winter activity!

What You Need:

  • A Container or Tray

  • Baking Soda

  • White Conditioner

  • Water

    ⬇️ Optional

  • Sticks

  • Buttons

  • Winter Themed Toys

What to do:

  1. Measure out your ingredients, basically 4 parts baking soda to 1 part conditioner, then about ¼th of the conditioner amount of water

  2. We started with 3 cups of baking soda, ½ cup of conditioner, and a table spoon of water

Note: Start with less of the liquids and slowly add more to gain the desired consistency. Our first attempt started out very lotion-like, and we had to add a lot more baking soda!

  1. Mix the snow until you can easily form it into a snowball, mixing with your hands works best

  2. Slowly add more conditioner if the mixture is too dry, or add more water and baking soda if the mixture is too sticky

  1. Once you achieve the desired consistency, add winter themed toys, buttons and sticks to make a snowman, or use some trucks to plow the snow!

  2. If the mixture becomes dry while playing, or dries out over time, just slowly add water to rehydrate the snow. Store in an air-tight container for continued play

Substitutes:

Baking Soda can be substituted with: cornstarch

Conditioner can be substituted with: lotion, shaving cream, or just all water

More Optional Items: Trucks, Food Dye, Glitter, Trees, Cookie Cutters
